FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's soccer team tied a contest with Baldwin Wallace on Saturday afternoon at the Fredonia Blue Devil/Clarion Hotel Classic. Both teams will see their records tack on an extra digit as Oswego is now 1-1-1 and the Yellow Jackets are 3-2-1.
With less than 30 seconds remaining on the clock and down 1-0,
Alexa Restante made her presence felt after she lofted a corner kick into play. The junior then regrouped, found the ball and kicked a crossing shot to the right side of the goal just out of the reach of the opposing goalie for the score.
The goal was her first of the season and helped tie the game at one after a Baldwin Wallace player found the net just over a minute prior.
Both teams continued to battle for another 20 minutes and two overtime periods. The Lakers recorded four more shots to add to their 23 during the match.
Melissa Siegfried tallied five saves in the draw.
Chloe Lonergan and
Mary Morrison earned All-Tournament honors for their work on the defensive end of the field and for their contributions in Friday's game.
Women's soccer will return to New York for their first home contest of the season on Tuesday evening. Oswego will host Alfred University at 7 p.m. at Laker Turf Stadium.
