Goals From Five Players Keep Oswego Perfect

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State field hockey team defeated the Keuka College Wolves, 6-1, on Wednesday afternoon at Laker Turf Stadium to keep its unblemished record intact at 5-0. Keuka falls to 0-5 with the loss.

After falling behind early, Oswego woke up and began playing with an unmatched aggression. The Lakers scored six unanswered goals with three coming in each half.

Jordan Sheehy scored the first tally for the home team in the 21st minute on an assist from fellow classmate Monica Harvey. It was Sheehy's second goal on the season.

Harvey did not go away in this contest and scored a goal of her own just 10 minutes later. She found the ball off a failed clear by a Keuka defender and rocketed it in the goal. The tally was her third of the season after her two-goal game against Elmira earlier in the year.

Rounding off first half scoring for Oswego, Katie Reynolds received a pass from Grace Rinaldi in the zone and notched a goal of her own. It was the sophomore's third goal of the year.

Like Harvey, Rinaldi made her presence felt later in the contest. The senior maintained her composure in a crowd of players near the goal, brought the ball around to her other side and fired it into the goal. It was the Pittsford, N.Y. native's fourth goal of the year, which is just two shy of her career best. With her assist earlier in the game, Rinaldi now has a team leading 10 points.

Lacey Woite followed the lead set forth by her teammates and found the goal two times in the final 19 minutes of the contest. One was corralled in a scrum of players and scored, whereas the other was off an assist from Julia Calandra.

Oswego managed 21 shots in the contest with 19 of them coming on the goal. The team also earned 14 penalty corners.

Field hockey will return to action at 4 p.m. on Wednesday against Morrisville State at Laker Turf Stadium.
