Lakers Improve to 6-0 With Win Over Morrisville

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State field hockey team downed the Morrisville State Mustangs at home, 2-0, on Wednesday to continue the magical undefeated streak, improving to 6-0 on the season and 1-0 in the conference.

Oswego was helped by Jordan Sheehy's tally in the 49th minute, which ended up being the deciding factor in the contest. Sheehy received the ball on a pass from Katie Reynolds and in a battle with a Morrisville defender was able to redirect it into the back of the goal. The score was her third of the season.

The Lakers were the much more aggressive team on the afternoon and kept the ball on the opposing side of the field for most of the game. They were able to maintain possession and managed 20 shots with 13 coming on-goal from seven separate athletes. Oswego also collected 15 penalty corners with 11 coming in the second half on the game.

In the 54th minute, Lacey Woite added an insurance goal for the Lakers similar to the two goals she added in the team's last contest versus Keuka College. The sophomore once again found herself in a scrum near goal and powered a shot through the defense, past the goalie and in for her third tally of the year.

Sarita Charap clocked all 70 minutes in goal and notched two saves. Her record matches the Lakers unblemished 6-0 line.

Field hockey returns to action at 7 p.m. on Tuesday as it travels to play nationally-ranked William Smith College.
