POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Oswego State golf team opened its 2016-17 campaign with a victory at the Potsdam Quad on Tuesday afternoon. Oswego shot a 305 as a combined team score, outshooting its next closest opponent by seven strokes.
Corey Marshall and
Zachary Hiris led the way for the Lakers, each scoring a 75 which was good for a third-place tie. One stroke back was
Sean Paul Owens, tying for fifth with a 76. The final Oswego score to count towards the team's total was
Nick Gramuglia's 79. Gramuglia's score captured a top 10 finish, placing eighth.
Rounding out the field was Clarkson University at 312, Potsdam at 316 and SUNY Canton at 323.
Oswego will go to the St. John Fisher College Invitational next, taking place on Saturday and Sunday. The invite will feature 36 holes at Timber Banks Golf Course in Baldwinsville, N.Y. on Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m. On Sunday, the teams will play Beaver Meadows Golf Club in Phoenix, N.Y., with tee times starting at 11:30 a.m.
