CANTON, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Roos Classic on Saturday. With the win and loss, the Lakers move to 10-12 this season.
In Oswego's opening match of the classic against host SUNY Canton, the Lakers won set one with a score of 25-19. In sets two and three, the Lakers were on the losing side of that same score. Oswego won the crucial fourth set 25-17 to force set five, and prevailed in set five 15-11.
Shauna O'Flaherty led the team with 11 kills, followed by reigning Athlete of the Week
Lauren Fie, who had nine kills. Senior
Rina Qelaj led the Lakers with 25 digs, her season-high.
Oswego won the first two sets of its second match against University of Maine-Fort Kent, 25-21 and 25-20, but narrowly dropped the final three sets 25-21, 25-22 and 15-13. This time, junior Allison Sullivan led the Lakers in kills, with 16, while
Laura Finn contributed 14 digs.
The Lakers will be back in action on Tuesday when they face St. John Fisher on the road at 7 p.m.
