Seniors Lead Lakers to Thrilling 2OT Sr. Day Win

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's soccer team won a double overtime thriller, 2-1, over SUNYAC rival Fredonia on Senior Day. With the win, the Lakers improve to 6-4-1 on the season with an even 3-3-0 SUNYAC record, while Fredonia falls to 6-8-0 overall and 2-3-0 in conference play.

At 101:36, senior Emma Geyer scored the game-winning shot. The midfielder beat the Fredonia goalie to the ball, and launched it into the net to give the Lakers the win. It was Geyer's fifth shot of the day, all of which were on-goal.

Oswego's other goal came from fellow senior Sarah Grupp. In the 51st minute, the midfielder slid in front of the net, shooting the ball into the bottom right corner of the goal for the crucial game-tying goal. Like Geyer, both of Grupp's two shots during the game were on-goal.

The Laker offense bombarded the Blue Devils with shots. Oswego notched 27 shots, 12 of which were on-goal, while Fredonia only managed seven shots during over 100 minutes of game time. The Lakers also had 12 corner kicks compared to just three from the Blue Devils.

Oswego will be back in action on Oct. 13 when it faces Brockport on the road. The win over Fredonia was the Lakers' final home game of the regular season.
