OSWEGO, N.Y. - The No. 5/7 Oswego State men's ice hockey team will host Brockport at 7 p.m. on Saturday inside the Marano Campus Center Arena. Saturday will be the second-annual "Teddy Bear Toss," with joint efforts coming from the men's ice hockey team and the Toys for Tots organization.
Fans are encouraged to bring teddy bears and/or stuffed animals to toss on the ice after the Lakers score their first goal. All of the teddy bears/stuffed animals thrown on ice will be collected and distributed by Toys for Tots to children in Oswego County for the holidays. Stuffed animals will also be available for a donation at the Toys for Tots table that evening.
Both the men's and women's ice hockey teams will be collecting canned goods and toys prior to their respective games this weekend. The women's team will be hosting SUNY Cortland at 7 p.m. Friday night. These donations are part of an annual campaign by both teams to help United Way/SEFA.
Last year, the Lakers' first "Teddy Bear Toss" came on a Matt Galati goal in the first period on Dec. 3, in an 8-1 victory over the Morrisville State Mustangs. A total of 573 stuffed animals were thrown on the ice and collected for distribution throughout the county.

The Lakers have dominated the Golden Eagles the past few seasons. In the previous six matchups – dating back to 2015 – the Lakers are 6-0-0 and outscoring the Brockport 33-6.
Leading the way for the Lakers is sophomore-standout
Josh Zizek. Last week, after being named State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Player of the Week, Zizek was named to D3hockey.com's Team of the Week, where he was one of three forwards nationally to make the team.
He currently leads the Lakers in goals (6), assists (5), points (11) and power-play goals (4). Zizek is currently tied for third in the nation in power-play goals despite having played fewer games than anyone in the top 13.
Tickets for Saturday's game are available at the box office, by phone at 315-312-3073 or online at
