ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's basketball team took a 78-28 loss at nationally-ranked University of Rochester on Wednesday night. Rochester – who moved up 12 spots to No. 9 in the most recent D3hoops.com poll – remains a perfect 5-0 on the year while the Lakers slide to 2-4.
Oswego was able to match the Yellowjackets in blocks, as each team recorded three.
Quincey Zimmerman,
Courtney Ameele and
Morgan Wolanin accounted for one blocked shot apiece. The Lakers were also competitive on the glass, corralling just six-less than top-10 Rochester.
In all, Oswego registered 38 rebounds, led by
Zana Dillard and
Sarah Feminella's six boards apiece. A pair of five rebound performances followed from
Rachael Windhausen and Ameele. Starting point guard
Erin Gantley had three rebounds while Zimmerman,
Tatyana Fish and
Kiki Wright each hauled in two caroms.
The Lakers struggled shooting from the floor but seven of 10 players that saw the floor sunk at least a pair of points. Oswego was paced by Ameele's nine, followed by
Raiven Encarnacion's six. Zimmerman, Windhausen and Gantley each tallied three points while Zimmerman and Fish recorded a deuce apiece.
State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action starts for Oswego in its next outing. The Lakers will visit the Red Dragons of Cortland for a 1 p.m. tip-off on Saturday.
