BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's basketball team closed the regular season slate with an 80-75 loss on the road to Brockport on Saturday. With the loss, the Lakers finish the regular season 19-6 overall and a league-best 15-3 while Brockport improves to 19-6, 14-4.
Ian Schupp had a career day on offense, scoring a game- and career-high 31 points on 10-for-17 shooting from the field. The junior also had four made 3-point attempts to go along with a 7-for-8 appearance at the charity stripe.
Also with a career-best performance was
Tyler Pierre, nabbing the most rebounds in his young career with 17. The sophomore was just two points shy of a double-double, finishing with eight.
Joining Schupp in double-figures in the game was senior
Brian Sortino, who ended with 14 points. The guard also tallied a team-high five assists.
Brandan Gartland missed double-figures by just one point, going 3-for-5 from distance for nine points.
Aiding Pierre on the boards was senior
Mykelle Krecko, collecting 11 boards, seven of which came on the offensive glass. The big man made his presence known on defense as well, swatting four Golden Eagle shot attempts. Barely missing double-digits in the rebound column was senior
Keith Tyson, gathering nine boards.
Oswego is the No. 1 seed in next week's SUNYAC Championship and will host the semifinal round and the title game. The Lakers will face the winner of No. 4 Cortland and No. 5 Buffalo State at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Second-seeded Brockport will play the winner of No. 3 Oneonta and No. 6 Geneseo at 5:30 p.m. that night. The winners of the semifinal games will meet for the title at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
