OSWEGO, N.Y. -- The No. 2/3 Oswego State men's ice hockey team completed a 6-1 statement victory over No. 13/13 Buffalo State to end the regular season on Saturday evening. Oswego reaches the 20-win plateau, improving to 20-4-1 and 13-2-1 in the SUNYAC and collecting 27 league points for the top-seed. Buffalo State falls to 17-7-1 and 9-6-1, clinching the four-seed in the conference tournament with 19 points.

Shortly after the opening face off, Oswego was already out and running. Andrew Barton found the goal with assists from Kenny Neil and Mitchell Herlihey to put the Lakers up 1-0. That was only the beginning for Neil, who had himself a huge Senior Night performance. 

Shortly into the second period with the Lakers still in front 1-0, Neil added his second point and first goal of the evening. Three seconds through a power play, which was called for a Buffalo State hooking infraction, Neil sent the puck into the net off a Alex Botten pass.  It was his 14th goal of the year and the eventual game-winner.

Following a Cameron Berry score, putting the Lakers up 3-0, Buffalo State got on the board. Less than four minutes later, Neil continued his stellar evening with his second score, this one also on a power play. During the third period, the Clarenville, New Foundland and Labrador native sent the puck into the netting two more times. It was his second-career hat trick and first four-score game.

Matt Zawadzki played 40 minutes in goal to earn the win. The senior surrendered a single score, while tallying seven saves. David Jacobson finished off the contest, taking his place between the pipes for the final 20 minutes and accumulating six saves with no goals allowed.

Oswego will now receive a bye into the SUNYAC Championship semifinal - at 7 p.m. on Saturday evening - after earning the top seed. The Lakers await the lowest remaining seed upon the completion of quarterfinal matchups. No. 3 Geneseo battles No. 6 Brockport at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, while No. 4 Buffalo State plays No. 5 Fredonia at the same time.
