Mazzella and Hebert Push Lakers Past Brockport

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's basketball team survived a truly back-and-forth game for an impressive 73-64 overtime victory at Brockport to close out its season on Saturday. Oswego finishes the season 9-16 overall and 6-12 in the SUNYAC while the Golden Eagles go to 9-16, 8-10.

Brockport started the game hot, holding a 19-11 lead after one quarter. Oswego returned the favor in the second, allowing just four Golden Eagle points while posting 17 of its own to hold a 28-23 halftime advantage. The Lakers registered a plus-six point margin in the third quarter to possess a seemingly comfortable 11-point lead. It was all Lakers in the overtime, scoring 13 of the periods first 15 points to hold a 71-60 lead with just 43 seconds to seal the victory.

Oswego was paced by outstanding performances by a duo of senior starters in their final game in a Laker uniform. Heather Hebert (24) and Mary Mazzella (23) combined for 43 points – more than half of the Lakers' output. Mazzella edged her teammate on the glass, collecting 10 boards for her fourth career double-double while Hebert gathered eight caroms.

Also with eight boards in the outing was sophomore Rachael Windhausen to go along with her seven points. In all, nine Oswego players saw court time and each grabbed at least one rebound.
