BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's lacrosse team fell on the road 14-3 to No. 14 Brockport on Saturday afternoon. Oswego is now 2-5 on the year, while the Golden Eagles improve to 7-1.
Montana Garrett helped start the Lakers off in the right direction, scoring the first goal of the contest, just over one minute in.
Gemma O'Kane followed it up with a score just over 30 seconds later (28:15) to take a 2-0 lead.
Toni Laneve and
Teresa Shattuck assisted the on the goals, respectively.
The Lakers looked poised to repeat 2016's result as Oswego downed the No. 9 Golden Eagles by a 13-12 tally at home, but Brockport turned it around and did not look back. It scored 12 unanswered goals, jumping out to a 12-2 lead.
Shattuck scored her second point and first goal of the day to break the Brockport run, before the Golden Eagles notched another pair of goals to complete the 14-3 line.
Danielle Walker (6) and
Seanna Laneve (3) led the Lakers in groundballs, picking up nine of the team's 16. Oswego also made 15 successful clears out of 22 chances.
Angela Ponto played the entire game in goal, registering 60 minutes and making 15 saves.
Women's lacrosse returns to action for four-straight home contests beginning with Potsdam at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
