DAY ONE RESULTS
OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State golf team hosted the first day of its annual Spring Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the Oswego Country Club. Oswego 'A' hung tough despite the overcast, windy and cold conditions, earning a day one share of first place with perennial power St. John Fisher College's 'A' group. The two squads shot a 320 (+36) and hold a two-stroke advantage on Hamilton College heading into Sunday's final round.
Oswego was led by a pair of 79s from Sean Paul Own and
Nick Gramuglia. Those scores were good for a tie for seventh place. Next in for the Lakers was
Corey Marshall with an 80, cracking the top 10 with a tie for ninth. Rounding out the team scoring for Oswego was
Erik Schleicher with an 82.
The Lakers also had its 'B' group out on the course on Saturday, and the squad stayed just three strokes off the lead. Oswego 'B' owned the two best scores for a Laker on the day, as
Kyle McCloskey shot a 76 followed by
Cody Weiss' 78. Those totals were good for fourth and a tie for fifth, respectively.
Daniel Mort (81) and Zachary Hiris (88) closed the scoring for Oswego's second team.
Second day action will commence at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday.
