CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Oswego State softball team opened its SUNYAC portion of the schedule with two losses at Cortland on Sunday afternoon. Oswego is now 4-12 on the year while the Red Dragons improve to 16-6 and 5-0 in the conference.
CORTLAND 4, OSWEGO 0:
Cortland scored a single run in each of its last four at-bats to claim a 4-0 victory. Oswego mustered three hits in the outing, coming from
Katie Heselden,
Rebecca Vilchez and
Melissa Mulvaney. Vilchez tossed all six innings for the Lakers, scattering 11 hits to the tune of four earned runs.
CORTLAND 2, OSWEGO 0:
A two-run second inning was the difference despite Oswego tallying five hits to Cortland's three. Vilchez and Mulvaney each recorded a hit again but the Lakers were led by
Ashley Lyman's 2-for-3 performance. Rounding out Oswego's hits was
Claire Hewitt, knocking one single in two at-bats.
Jessica Roe has a solid day in the circle despite taking the loss. The freshman only surrendered three hits and two runs, only one of which was earned.
Oswego will continue league action in its next contests as Fredonia comes to campus for a doubleheader at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
