OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State volleyball team kicked off its home slate of matches with a pair of 3-0 wins over Hilbert College and SUNY Canton. In the opener, the Lakers overpowered the Hawks by scores of 25-5, 25-10, 25-12 and then controlled the Kangaroos 25-18, 25-20, 26-24.
Against Hilbert, sophomore
Laura Finn led the way with seven kills, 11 digs and two aces. Sophomore
Julia Flohr netted 28 assists while junior
Alison Sullivan totaled six kills and three blocks.
In the second match, sophomore
Sarah Braddon led the team in kills with nine while Sullivan had eight kills and seven blocks. Sophomore
Shauna O'Flaherty led the team with 17 digs and freshman
Melissa Lussier added 14 of her own to help a strong defensive effort.
The two wins improve the team's record to 4-6 on the season. Hilbert falls to 0-8 and SUNY Canton is now 2-6. The Lakers return to the court tomorrow at 11 a.m. against Utica College followed by Elmira College at 1 p.m.
