OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's soccer team defeated Penn State Behrend 2-1 in overtime of the Fredonia Tournament's first game.
Alexa Restante's goal 1:11 into overtime propelled Oswego to a 2-0 record on the year while the Lions fall to 2-2.
Just over a minute into overtime, the Lakers got what they needed.
Mackenzie Schaffner's shot hit the crossbar and Restante collected the rebound to find the net and capture the win for Oswego.
In the second half, Behrend opened the scoring when Amanda Donohue scored her third goal of the year to put the Lions up 1-0.
Oswego struck back a little less than 10 minutes later when
Chloe Lonergan scored at 68:38 to knot the game at 1-1.
The first half was quiet for both teams. Behrend only had one shot during the half, while Oswego had five.
Oswego dominated offensively in the second half, with 14 shots compared to just four from the Lions.
The Lakers' defense was strong as well.
Emma Allen had one save in her second win of the year, as the Oswego back line allowed just two Behrend shots to come on-goal.
Oswego will continue with the Fredonia Tournament for its next contest as it faces D'Youville College at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
