GENESEO, N.Y. - The Oswego State women's basketball team suffered a 67-24 road defeat to Geneseo on Friday night. Geneseo (16-2) came into the contest ranked 24th in the country by D3Hoops and remains undefeated in the SUNYAC at 11-0. The Lakers fall to 5-13 overall and 2-9 in conference action.
Oswego fell behind early as the Knights used a 13-0 run to end the first quarter and go up 19-2. Geneseo hit six 3-pointers in the first half and outscored the Lakers 10-2 in bench points to lead 32-8 at the midpoint.
The offense picked up in the second half with the Lakers eventually outscoring the Knights 22-18 in the paint, but 47.6% shooting from deep propelled the hosts to the victory.
Courtney Ameele led the Lakers with six points while both
Rachael Windhausen and
Zana Dillard had four points and nine rebounds.
The team is back in action tomorrow when they head to Brockport for a 1 p.m. tipoff. Last season, the Lakers defeated the Golden Eagles on the road, 73-64, in overtime.
