BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's ice hockey team was shutout 2-0 at Buffalo State on Saturday afternoon to close a two-game weekend series. Oswego is now 8-10-1 overall and 4-6-0 in the NEWHL while the Bengals move to 11-8-2, 7-4-1.
Neither team scored in the first and third periods but a pair of goals in the middle stanza was all Buffalo State would need to secure the victory. Its first goal came on a power-play at 10:43 and the Bengals immediately followed with an even-strength tally 1:07 later.
In net,
Mariah Madrigal made 24 saves despite falling to 5-5-1 on the year.
Emma Morisette and
Jean-marie Padden each attempted five shots to lead the Lakers while
Andrea Noss put four on net. Overall, Oswego outshot the Bengals 29-26.
Special team was a tough area for the Lakers on Saturday, unable to cash in on five chances while Buffalo State went 1-for-2 with an extra skater.
Oswego will now host the No. 1 Plattsburgh Cardinals in a two-game weekend series, beginning with a 7 p.m. puck drop on Friday.
