GENESEO, N.Y. - The Oswego State Volleyball team won the opening set but could not hold on in the SUNYAC Semifinals and fell to New Paltz by a 3-1 score.  The Lakers conclude their season at 19-14 and have made it to the semifinal round in two of the past four seasons.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Oswego and New Paltz were trading blows in the first before a 14-1 run turned a 14-12 New Paltz lead into a set one victory for the Lakers.  The run was fueled by a nine-point run by senior Alison Berger's three aces.
• The second set was tied at 7-7 early, but a push by New Paltz gave them the equalizer.
• In the third, neither team could get any separation until New Paltz used four Laker errors to turn a 20-20 tie into a 25-22 victory and take control of the match.
• It was all New Paltz in the fourth as they outhit Oswego by a 15-3 margin in kills.
• Berger led Oswego with 20 assists and 14 digs while sophomore Melissa Lussier had 10 kills.
• Senior Alison Sullivan had eight kills on 19 attempts and had a match-high six blocks to extend her Oswego career lead in the category to 439 blocks.
