Lakers Cruise Past Keuka at Home

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's lacrosse team defeated Keuka College on Saturday afternoon by a score of 17-6.  With the win, Oswego improves to 5-1 while the Wolves fall to 3-2.

The Lakers got off to a strong start with six first-period goals, five of them coming on man-up situations.  Sophomore Tim Schof had two of the goals and assisted on a third to pace Oswego while senior Luke Krizman had a highlight-reel goal as he dove into open space and launched a shot by the Keuka goalie.  The team outshot Keuka 12-5 in the first and sophomore Kyle O'Connor won six-of-eight faceoffs to dominate possession.

Oswego continued to control the action in the second period as they won five of the six faceoffs during the period and added another six goals.  Schof and fellow sophomore Kyle Bacon each had a pair in the period.  The Lakers held a 31-9 shot advantage at the half over the Wolves and led 12-2 on the scoreboard.

In the third period, Oswego scored first when sophomore Dan Doolan found the back of the net at the 11:05 mark.  Keuka scored three straight goals to cut the Laker lead back to 13-5, but a Caleb Alford tally with just under two minutes left in the period would halt the run.

Sophomore Eric Kiel kicked off the scoring in the fourth period with his first goal of the season at the 10:01 mark and was assisted by freshman Mike Fleming.  After a Wolves' goal, Krizman would add his second of the contest at 6:57 and Jack Wurts his first of the season at 2:15 to conclude the scoring.

Freshman Goalie Kevin O'Donnell made six saves in the first half while only allowing a pair of goals before yielding to sophomore Brody Carter to start the third period.  Carter made three saves in the third and gave way to Harrison Levy in the fourth period who made four stops.

Oswego out-shot Keuka by a 53-24 edge and the faceoff group of O'Connor (12-of-15), Harrison Gardiner (4-of-5) and Nate Bizub (4-of-5) controlled 20 of the 25 faceoffs.

The lacrosse team is back in action on Wednesday at 4 p.m. when they take on Utica College at the Laker Turf Stadium.  The game is doubling as a benefit for the St. Baldrick's Foundation community service event that the Oswego Athletics Department participates in every year.
