CORTLAND, N.Y. – The fifth-seeded Oswego State women's lacrosse team battled to a tough 13-10 loss at No. 1 Cortland in a SUNYAC Championship semifinal matchup on Friday afternoon. Oswego ends its campaign with an 11-6 record – tied for third-most victories in program history. Cortland advances to the tournament title game on Saturday and will play the winner of No. 2 Geneseo and No. 3 Brockport.

In her final game in a Laker uniform, senior Angela Ponto played spectacularly, racking of a career-high for saves. The Syracuse, N.Y. native halted the Red Dragons on 21 shots on-goal, beating her previous career-mark by two saves – which she had recorded on multiple occasions over her career.

At the half, Oswego and Cortland were knotted at 6-6 behind an impressive run of five-straight points by Teresa Shattuck. Toni Laneve scored the Lakers' first two goals, the second of which came on an assist by Shattuck. The junior then scored Oswego's next four goals, evening the game at 6-6 with her 30th goal at 2:53.

In the second stanza, the Lakers kept the game with in a one or two goal margin for the majority of the half. Cortland only extended its lead to more than two in the final four minutes. Much of this was due to Ponto's effort in net and Montana Garrett's showing on offense. Garrett matched Shattuck's game-high four goals by scoring each of the team's tallies in the final 30 minutes.

On the draw, Oswego was led by four controls each by Brigid Regin and Shattuck. Regin also registered an assist in the game, finding Laneve for the Lakers' first point.

For ground balls, Ponto scooped a game-best six while Danielle Walker had four. Walker also paced the team with two caused turnovers while senior classmates Seanna Laneve and Nicole Granteed forced one apiece.

Cortland (14-4) advances to the tournament title game on Saturday and will play the winner of No. 2 Geneseo and No. 3 Brockport.
