Lakers Claim First Conference Matchup

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State field hockey team defeated the Brockport 4-3 at home on Saturday. Katie Reynolds notched a career-high four goals in the Laker's victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Brockport would earn the first tally of the game off a Katie Ziemba goal at just 4:52 into the first half. Oswego's Katie Reynolds would answer back 14 minutes later to tie the game at 1-1.
  • Earning Oswego's only assist of the day was Alyssa DeMichael, as she was able to feed Reynolds the ball through several defensive players, where the senior awaited.
  • Just over 12 minutes into the second half, Reynolds would notch her second of the day, unassisted as the she was able to collect a rebound of the goalie pads and put the ball bottom left.
  • The Pawling, N.Y. native's hat trick was earned three minutes later at 50:09, as she corralled a bouncing ball into the back of the cage.
  • The Laker's last tally also came from the forward, as she was again able to collect a rebound and beat the goalkeeper in front of the goal. She now leads the Lakers in goals on the season with 10.
  • The Golden Eagles led a comeback, as they trailed 4-3 headed into the final minute of the game. They were able to earn a corner as regulation ran out, giving themselves one last shot.
  • Goalkeeper Joanna Christman was able to pad away Ziemba's shot to secure the Laker's victory. Christman tallied five saves.
  • Despite Brockport holding a 12-6 advantage in corners, the Lakers were able to score four goals.
  • Oswego is now 5-0 in its last five meetings with Brockport.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers will hit the road on Wednesday, as they travel for a 4 p.m. start time against nationally-ranked Cortland.
