OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State field hockey team dropped a conference matchup against a strong Cortland offense on Wednesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Goalkeeper Joanna Christman remained almost perfect in the first half, making three saves and allowing only one goal. The Red Dragons', who received 58 votes in the national polls this week, first goal came with thirty seconds remaining in the half. Forward Jess Gibaldi was able to find the back of the cage off a penalty corner.
- Cortland struck again 2:07 into the second half, as Gibaldi was able to get a quick shot off in front of the goal.
- The hosts would strike one more time just over five minutes into the second half, as Hannah Burchell was able to drive a long shot home off a Red Dragon penalty corner.
- Christman was able to hold Cortland off for the remaining 30 minutes, as she padded away three more shots. The Rochester, N.Y. native had eight saves on the day.
- Following the final goal, the Lakers sprung to action, earning three penalty corners that resulted in one shot on-goal and two blocked shots, all within two minutes.
- Emily Conklin recorded the teams only shot on-goal while also tallying a shot that was blocked in front of the goal.
- Riley Mallett had one defensive save in the Lakers' efforts.

The Lakers return home on Saturday as they host Geneseo for another conference matchup, slated to begin at 1 p.m.
