Lakers Win First Road Tilt of 2018

UTICA, N.Y. -- The Oswego State men's soccer team dominated Cobleskill State on Friday, the first night of the Utica College Tournament and the Lakers' first road game of the 2018 season. Caleb Asamoah and Hassan Musa were both able to notch penalty-shots in the Laker victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Cobleskill struck first when Aymen Mohamed made the board just 5:26 into the first half, but the Lakers were quick to answer back. Freshman Ryan Young notched his first career-goal just six minutes later to tie the game at 1-1. Young's goal was assisted by fellow classmen Iviko Gejadze, the first of his career.
  • Caleb Asamoah broke the tie 9:06 into the second half as he was able to capitalize on a penalty-kick. The first penalty-kick of the junior's career.
  • Hassan Musa was the third Laker of the day to notch a goal, as he was also granted a penalty-kick in the second half. This goal came with 12:50 remaining in the contest, and is Musa's first of the season.
  • Oswego had a one shot advantage over the fighting tigers (10-9) while leading by two in shots-on-goal (6-4). The Lakers also had a 5-2 advantage in corner-kicks.
  • Goaltender Brian Terra secured three saves in the Lakers' victory and now has seven in three games.
  • This is the first time in the program's history that the two teams have met.

Oswego takes on host Utica College at 3 p.m. Sunday to close the Utica College Tournament.
