HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After eight minutes of play, Sara Cruise put the Lakers on the board as she was able to recover from a blocked shot, sending the puck top shelf on the Plymouth goalie. Cruise was helped along by Annika Neufeld-Kreider and Kate Randazzo.
  • The Panthers were able to convert with one second remaining on their power play at 6:25 in the first period, after a shot deflected off the cross bar to a waiting Alexis Fagan who squeaked it by the left goal post. Line mate Brooke Maggy was credited with the lone assist.
  • Emily Gustafson notched the go-ahead goal and eventual game-winner for the Lakers at 18:48 in the second period, the first of her collegiate career, as her shot deflected off a defender and into the Panthers' net. Emma Morisette and Philomena Teggart aided the freshman's tally.
  • Sophomore Aislinn McAleer also tallied her first-collegiate goal, making a diving shot at Randazzo's rebound off the goalie pads. Randazzo was fed the puck by Katelynn Ferguson who gained it of a Laker faceoff win, both recorded assists on the goal.
  • Morisette added another insurance goal on the Laker power play, as she cleaned up a Natalie Giglio shot that was padded away by the goaltender. Giglio and Randazzo both earned assists on the score.
  • Jean-marie Padden sealed the Panthers' fate at 17:41 in the final period as she sent a shot soaring into the back of the net. Padden's tally was assisted by Randazzo, for the captain's fourth helper of the evening.
  • Oswego netminder Rachael Farmer tallied 26 saves during her 60 minutes between the pipes.
  • The Lakers owned slight advantages in shots on-goal (27-26) and faceoff wins (31-25).
