OSWEGO, N.Y. - The No. 3 Oswego State men's ice hockey team suffered their first setback of the season at No. 2 Geneseo by a score of 9-1 on Saturday night. With the loss, the Lakers' record falls to 4-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Geneseo grabbed the early lead at just 1:37 of the first period.
- The teams alternated a pair of penalties during the last eight minutes of the stanza.
- The Knights were able to capitalize on both of their opportunities to move to a 3-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
- Oswego got a great opportunity to cut into the lead with a power play just four seconds into the second period.
- After peppering the Geneseo goalie with a series of shots, senior Michael Gillespie rang the pipe with a shot but Oswego could not turn the momentum.
- In the next six scores, five were by power play for the home squad.
- On the power play, senior Mitch Emerson finally broke through for Oswego with his first goal of the season, assisted by Carson Vance and Tyler Currie.
- Of the 10 total goals scored in the contest, eight of them were via power play.
- Oswego won the faceoff battle (43-34) while Geneseo blocked 15 shots to 12 for the Lakers.
- David Richer made 24 saves before yielding to Cedric Hansen who made a pair.
