HOW IT HAPPENED
- After back-to-back Cardinal goals in the opening 10-minutes of the first period, the Lakers were scoreless for the majority of the contest. Freshman Tyson Kirkby put Oswego on the score sheet with his third period tally.
- Assistant-captain Cameron Berry exploded off a neutral zone faceoff, just outside the Cardinals' defensive zone, leading the offensive rush into the zone with a shot that was stopped by the kicker of Plattsburgh's goalie. Kirkby collected the rebound and corralled it into the back of the net at 9:38. Berry owned the lone-assist on the score.
- The Laker special teams denied the Cardinals the ability to convert on all four of its power play opportunities, even killing a 1:13 5-on-3 late in the final stanza.
- David Richer recorded a .900 save-percentage, stopping 18 shots during his time in goal.
- Oswego owned advantages in shots, shots on-goal (44-28, 33-20) and faceoff wins (39-30).
