Valiant Effort Closes Oswego's Season at Geneseo

GENESEO, N.Y. – Ramatoulaye Sy filled up the stat sheet with her 18-point and 18-rebound performance in the Oswego State women's basketball team close 56-53 loss to Geneseo – the team with the SUNYAC's second-best record – on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • A Raiven Encarnacion made layup with 45 seconds left capped off a hard fought first quarter, with the Lakers trailing by just one at 11-10.
  • Sy's and-1 converted layup prior to the third quarter buzzer gave the Lakers a 41-38 lead heading into the fourth.
  • Geneseo took a 54-48 lead with less than four minutes remaining. Oswego then gave a late push to bring the score to 54-53. The quick five-point spurt came on a trey from Sy and a jump shot from Quincey Zimmerman.
  • Sy's double-double of 18 points and 18 rebounds was her eighth of the season. She also dished out four assists.
  • Rachael Windhausen collected 11 rebounds while scoring eight points and spreading out four assists.
  • Zimmerman finished with nine points.
  • Oswego dominated the offensive boards with 18 to just 11 by Geneseo, which contributed to 12 second-chance points.
WHAT'S NEXT
  • The Oswego State women's basketball season comes to a close with Encarnacion (10.8) and Sy (10.2) finishing the season as the top-two scorers for the Lakers.
  • Sy also paced Oswego in rebounds at 9.6 per game while Windhausen averaged 7.5. 
  • Windhausen ends her career ranked second in Oswego State women's basketball history in blocked shots (154), sixth in field goal percentage (.451), sixth in made free throws (242), eighth in free throws attempted (367) and ninth in rebounds (715).
