OSWEGO, N.Y. – The top-seeded Oswego State men's basketball team hosts the semifinal round and title game of the SUNYAC Championship over the weekend. Friday features a neutral-site contest between nationally-ranked and second-seeded Plattsburgh vs. No. 3 Brockport before the Lakers host No. 5 Oneonta. Plattsburgh and Brockport will tip at 5:30 p.m. with the Lakers and Red Dragons to follow at 7:30 p.m.

Oswego enters the weekend at 20-5 overall and 15-3 in the SUNYAC, earning the No. 1 seed by a game over Plattsburgh. The Lakers face Oneonta in the semifinal, as the two teams will settle a regular season split. Each team won their game on the opponent's home floor and Oswego will have to snap Oneonta's six-game winning streak, which features wins over the tournament's top two seeds. All six of those victories have come by double-figures but the Lakers own the 38th-best scoring margin (11.2) in the country.

The Lakers feature the nation's most efficient scorer, as Tyler Pierre connects on 70.5% of his shot attempts. Point guard Liam Sanborn is always willing to feed Pierre and his Laker teammates, with the 14th -most assists (146) and 19th-most assists per game (5.8) in the country. Oswego's is well-rounded as a team, with the 12th-best scoring defense (63.6) and the 14th-best rebound margin (9.2) nationally. That rebounding is anchored by Pierre's 3.7 offensive rebounds per contest and Joe Sullivan's 5.8 defensive boards.

In the first round of the SUNYAC Championship, No. 4 Cortland fell 84-71 to Oneonta and third-seeded Brockport downed No. 6 Potsdam, 94-88. The Golden Eagles split the regular season with Plattsburgh, handing the Cardinals their first loss of the season, 79-78, on Dec. 7. That loss came with Plattsburgh ranked No. 10 in the nation by D3hoops.com.

Ticket prices are $6 for adults, $4 for children ages 5-12 and free for children ages four and under. Students of SUNYAC member institutions will also receive free admission with a valid ID. The box office in Max Ziel Gymnasium will open one-hour prior to tip of the first game on Friday and one-hour before Saturday's final, which is slated for 4 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased online at tickets.oswego.edu or by calling 315-312-3073.
