SALISBURY, Md. – The No. 15 Oswego State baseball team opened up its 2019 campaign on Saturday with a doubleheader against No. 20 Salisbury University. The Lakers dropped both games, 3-1 and 9-2, on the road.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1:
- Brandon Nicholson's triple in the top of the fifth inning brought Rocco Leone around to score for the Lakers' first run of the season, cutting the deficit to just a run at 2-1.
- Home runs off the bats of Jack Barry and Jay Perry equated for the Sea Gulls' three run scored in the game.
- Nick DeMarco started on the mound for the Lakers, battling into the 8th inning before being relieved by Bobby Zywicki.
- DeMarco struck out six batters, allowing one walk and three earned runs.
- Preseason All-American Mike Dellicarri went 2-for-4 with two doubles in his season debut.
- Leone and Lukas Olsson each went 2-for-4 as well, notching a pair of singles apiece.
Game 2:
- After trailing 4-0, Oswego scored two runs in the top of the fifth inning, starting with Ryan Enos' double down the left-field line.
- Brandon Nicholson would then cross home plate after a wild pitch and a Myles Felton groundout brought in Enos to cut Salisbury's advantage in half.
- Salisbury used a four-run 7th inning to regain control of the game.
- Brian Nolan started on the bump for the Lakers, tossing four-innings pitched with three strikeouts while allowing one walk.
- Kieran Finnegan, Mike Di Salvo and Dylan Wiley completed the other four-innings pitched for Oswego, surrendering just one earned one between the trio.
- Felton reached base twice for the Lakers with two walks, earning the aforementioned RBI via a groundout.
- Freshman Frank Levanti pinched-hit in the final frame, singling to centerfield in his first collegiate at-bat.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers look to bounce back on Sunday as they travel to Delaware for single, nine-inning tilt beginning at 12 p.m. against Wesley College.
