OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State baseball team used early comebacks in a pair of games to sweep a nonconference doubleheader over Alfred State College on Tuesday afternoon. In two, seven-inning contests, the Pioneers were able to score in the top of the first of both games but the Lakers only allowed runs in one other inning out of the remaining 12 frames.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
- Following an RBI-double in the top half of the first inning by the Pioneers, Oswego immediately answered with three runs of its own. The Lakers added a pair of runs in both the third and fourth innings to hold a comfortable 7-1 advantage.
- Alfred was able to pull within three with a three-run fifth inning but Oswego scored another deuce in the sixth to put the game on ice.
- Brandon Nicholson paced all hitters with three base knocks in four at-bats, driving in two teammates while scoring once himself.
- Senior teammate Mike Dellicarri was perfect at the plate, going 2-for-2 with two walks, three RBI and a pair of runs scored.
- Also finishing with two hits for the Lakers was second baseman Rocco Leone, scoring twice as well.
- Paul Tammaro and Ryan Weiss accumulated the final two Laker hits with a single apiece, with Tammaro joining Leone and Dellicarri with two runs scored.
- Oswego was extremely active on the base paths, registering six stolen bases split evenly between Dellicarri, Nicholson and Tammaro.
- Laker starter Jake Jacobs improved to 2-0 on the year over 4.1 innings of work. The sophomore struck out four and scattered three hits without surrendering an earned run (three unearned).
- Ben Wilcox and Anthony Van Fossen combined for the final 2.2 innings of work, allowing just two hits and one unearned tally. Van Fossen struck two in his work during the final frame.
Game 2
- Alfred notched a two-run homer in the top of the first and held that lead until the bottom of the second. Oswego scored three during that inning, added one in the fourth and put the game away with four runs in the sixth.
- Ryan Enos was impressive with three singles and a double, recording a hit in each of his four at-bats. The sophomore collected three RBI while scoring once.
- Also having multiple-hit outings were Lukas Olsson, Casey Gruarin, Dylan Frawley and Nicholson, each with two. Nicholson and Gruarin each had a double as one of their two hits.
- Leone also had a hit in the game, placing a ball over the third baseman's head on the left-field line before using his speed to leg-out a double.
- On the rubber, Bobby Zywicki moved to 1-1 on the year over 5.0 innings. The senior's only runs allowed were off the home run in the first, working his way around two hits in his final 4.0 innings.
- In relief, Mike Di Salvo was perfect, tossing two frames without allowing a hit or walk while fanning four of the six batters he faced.
WHAT'S NEXT
Oswego will head to Cortland over the weekend for a pivotal three-game SUNYAC series. The Lakers and Red Dragons will start the series with a single, nine-inning game at 3 p.m. on Friday at Bob Wallace Field.
