HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
  • Both teams were up to the task in the first game as neither team scored in the first five innings.
  • Oswego was able to keep the Bears off the board in the third after they put runners on second and third with no outs in the inning.
  • Rebecca Vilchez got a force out at home, a grounder back to the mound and a pop out to keep the Bears scoreless.
  • The Lakers had one runner aboard each inning until the offense finally exploded in the top of the sixth.
  • Vilchez reached on an error and singles by Emily Knowlden and Angela Frampton loaded the bases for freshman Brianna Harrington.
  • Harrington hit a sacrifice fly to put the Lakers on top.  Two more batters reached on errors followed by singles from Jessica Roe, Casey Gray, Brianna LoMonaco and Erin Sweeney to help Oswego plate six more runs and put the game away.
  • Harrington got three straight outs in the bottom of the sixth to ice the game while Vilchez (5-9) went five, allowing only three Bears on base and striking out three to earn the win.
Game 2
  • Vilchez put Oswego up 1-0 in the first inning with her second home run of the season.
  • Potsdam would take a 3-1 lead with a run in the first and two more in the second inning.
  • Singles by Madelana Wrubel, Vilchez and Knowlden would add a run in the top of the third.
  • Gray would notch an RBI-single in the fourth inning to tie it at 3-3 after Sarah McCullough led off with a single and advanced when freshman Zoe Mennig reached by error.
  • After two outs in the fifth inning, Frampton singled, McCullough walked and senior Claire Hewitt came through again for the Lakers with a double to score both runners and put Oswego up 5-3. With that hit, the senior is now hitting an impressive .533 on the season.
  • Oswego scored again in the sixth inning when Vilchez doubled home Taylor DuBois who reached by way of a single.
  • The Lakers cemented the game with five more runs in the seventh inning as Frampton clobbered her sixth home run of the year before singles by McCullough, Joelle Nesci, Wrubel and Vilchez would help bring in the other four runs.
