HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
- The opener was a pitching dual between Oswego's Rebecca Vilchez and Buffalo State's Oriana Castello with neither pitcher allowing a run through the first seven innings.
- Oswego nearly plated runs in the bottom of the first and the bottom of the fourth, but both times runners were tagged out at home.
- It looked like it was heading to a ninth inning with two outs and Emily Knowlden up to bat. She battled for the two-out walk and then Frampton crushed a 2-1 pitch to left field that angled just inside the foul pole for the game-winner.
- Vilchez (6-9) went the full eight innings, allowing just three hits, walking none, and striking out one.
- Senior Erin Sweeney reached base twice via walk while Vilchez, Brianna Harrington and senior Casey Gray accounted for the other Laker base hits.
Game 2
- In game two, Frampton put the Lakers on top in the third inning with a two-run home run to left center that scored Knowlden.
- Oswego broke the game open in the fifth when Sweeney walked, moved to third on a Jenna Gotte single and scored on a Knowlden single.
- Harrington followed with a three-run blast to right center to make it 6-0.
- After the Bengals cut into the lead with two runs in the sixth, the Lakers added three more with a pair of walks and doubles by Knowlden and Harrington in the bottom of the inning.
- Harrington (5-1) went four innings of scoreless softball, allowing only two base hits and Vilchez came on midway through the fifth to garner her third save of the season.
