OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State softball team stayed hot on Monday for a rescheduled doubleheader with Fredonia, sweeping the Blue Devils in two completely different games. Oswego used an offensive eruption in game one for a mercy-rule shortened victory before battling through a low-scoring, one-run affair in the night cap. The pair of wins extends Oswego's winning streak to eight – all coming against conference competition – which is the program's longest such streak since the 1998 squad had a string of eight victories late in April.

- Game 2 Result: Oswego 2, Fredonia 1

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
- In the third and fourth innings, Oswego used timely hitting while capitalizing on Blue Devil mistakes to score 15 of its runs on nine of its 12 hits in the tilt. The Lakers broke a 1-1 tie with nine runs in the third and after giving one back, posted another six in the fourth.
- Angela Frampton was a triple shy of the cycle, going 3-for-3 with four RBI and three runs scored
- Also finishing with multiple-hit outings were Emily Knowlden and Brianna Harrington, each finish with two apiece. One of Knowlden's went for extra bases as she knocked a double down the left-field line in the third to plate three of her game-high five RBI. Knowlden scored twice herself while Harrington had a pair of RBI.
- Joining Harrington with two runs driven in were Jessica Roe and Aleah Yaizzo, both doing so on doubles in pinch-hit situations.
- Roe had a brilliant pinch-hit at-bat in the third with the bases loaded. The junior fouled off six pitches in a 12-pitch plate appearance before ripping a double in the right center gap to put the Lakers up 4-1.
- Yaizzo followed suit in the fourth inning, doubling off the fence in left field with the bases loaded to plate Casey Gray and Rebecca Vilchez.
- Vilchez, Sarah McCullough and Leah Czerwinski each finished with a single.
- On the rubber, Vilchez started and tossed 4.0 innings of four-hit ball, allowing two runs while striking out five for the victory.
Game 2
- Again the Lakers cashed in on Fredonia mistakes, scoring both of their runs unearned in the third frame.
- Starting centerfielder Jesse McCarthy led off with a walk and beat out a Brianna LoMonaco fielder's choice sacrifice bunt to second to put the Lakers in a two on, no out opportunity.
- After Erin Sweeney moved McCarthy to third and LoMonaco into scoring position with her own sacrifice bunt, a dropped fly ball in left field followed by an errant throw to home allowed both runners to cross home plate.
- Fredonia scored once in the fifth but great defense and pitching stunted any other Blue Devil chances.
- In the second with a runner on and one out, Harrington induced an inning-ending 4-6-3 double play.
- Later, with Vilchez in the circle in relief, Fredonia was able to put runners on the corners with one out. The southpaw lured the next batter into a pop up ,which she was able to snag while backpedaling before forcing the runner out at first for another inning ending double play.
- Vilchez was 1-for-1 at the plate with a walk while earning the three-inning save, her fourth of the year
- Harrington captured the victory in the circle, throwing four innings without allowing a run on two hits.
