HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Classmates Dan Doolan and Tim Schof were quick to put the fourth-seeded Lakers up, giving them a 4-0 lead with under four minutes remaining in the first quarter. Schof led the point count through the span with two goals and an assist, while Doolan had two goals.
  • After a Red Dragon tally closed the first stanza, Bobby Emerson reestablished a four-goal lead in Oswego's favor, helped along by Schof less than two minutes into the quarter.
  • A four-goal run by the host closed out the half, before they opened the third quarter with a goal less than 40 seconds in. Doolan was quick to knot the game at six, to complete his fifth hat trick of the season, unassisted at 11:12.
  • Weston Gray gave the Lakers their last lead of the contest, 7-6, helped along by Kyle Bacon. Their efforts were met by four goals from Cortland, for a score of 10-7 with 10:34 remaining on the game clock.
  • Gray and Bacon led the last viable attempt at a victory, as the two brought the game within one (10-9). Schof and Evan Hollfelder each owned assists.
  • Emerson was responsible for the Lakers' last score of the contest, aided by Bacon with 3:29 left in the contest.
  • O'Donnell - the Laker goalie - was stout in net, making 18 saves while collecting a team-best six ground balls.
  • The two squads split at the faceoff circle (13-26), with Kyle O'Connor winning all 13 for Oswego.
