Myers Scores Twice in Laker Loss at Clarkson

POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's soccer team owned a lead through halftime but were unable to hold off host Clarkson University on Friday afternoon. Sophomore Liz Myers doubled her season-goal total with both Laker tallies on the day.

THE BASICS
  • Result: Clarkson 3, Oswego 2
  • Location: Hantz Turf Field – Potsdam, N.Y.
  • Records: Clarkson 4-0-1  |  Oswego 1-5-0
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Myers opened the scoring at 4:01 when Graisa Madden found her for a 1-0 advantage.
  • Not only was it Myers' team-leading third of the year, but Madden's assist put the sophomore atop that category with two.
  • The Lakers possessed the margin through halftime but two Golden Knights scores in the opening 13 minutes of the second half swung the momentum.
  • Clarkson would add an insurance goal in the 87th minute but the Lakers quickly answered at 88:20 as Myers increased her team-leading goal total to four.
  • Myers was assisted by senior Gianna Perri, the second helper in the Lagrangeville, N.Y. native's career.
  • Oswego was consistent in both halves, attempting four shots in each period.
  • Myers accounted for three of the Lakers' four on-target chances, with Lynsey Roth recording the other.
  • Junior Sophia Portalatin made her first-career start between the pipes, playing all 90 minutes and stopping five Clarkson shots.
WHAT'S NEXT

The Lakers will remain in the North Country for a night in order to face the St. Lawrence University Saints at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
