FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's soccer team began the Fredonia Blue Devil Classic with a close loss to the University of Mount Union on Friday afternoon. A late goal and statistical advantages were not enough for the Lakers against the Raiders.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sophomore Liz Myers cut the Laker deficit in half in the 78th minute with her second goal of the year.
- Myers was assisted by Lynsey Roth for the junior's first point of the year, making it a 2-1 game.
- Two minutes later, Roth had an on-target attempt – one of a game-high five shots on-goal – but was turned away by the Raider goalie.
- Also finishing with on-goal chances were Graisa Madden and Maggie Riordan with two apiece while Myers and Jackie Vigliotti each had one.
- Oswego owned the advantage in shots by double-digits (26-16) and also had four-more corner kick opportunities (7-3).
- Emma Allen was solid in net despite suffering the loss, making a season-high nine saves. It was the senior's most saves since she set her career-high with 16 against Potsdam on Oct. 6 of last season.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers will close the Blue Devil Classic with a 12:30 p.m. matchup against D'Youville College on Saturday.
