Lakers Take First Loss of Season to Clarkson

POTSDAM,  N.Y. – The Oswego State men's lacrosse team was defeated by the Golden Knights of Clarkson this evening by a score of 15-5. The Lakers had seven different point scorers on their five goals in the contest.  

THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Clarkson started off fast as they scored three goals in the first 2:11 of the contest.
  • The Golden Knights added two more unanswered goals to bring their lead to 5-0 at the 6:07 mark of the first quarter.
  • Clarkson continued their scoring in the second quarter, at the 9:41 mark Conor Bartlett gave the Golden Knights the 7-0 lead.
  • The Lakers got on the board at the 12:51 mark of the third quarter. Jack Delaney scored his sixth goal of the year.
  • Mike Fleming added his first goal of the year to cut the Clarkson lead to 9-2.
  • Ryan Dumont tallied another for the Lakers, making it 9-3. Eric Kiel assisted Oswego's third goal and it was scored a man-up.
  • Clarkson came back with two goals of their own, extending their lead to eight goals.
  • At the 1:46 mark of the third quarter, Tim Schof scored his third goal of the season to cut the lead back to seven.
  • From there, the Golden Knights went on a 3-0 run to give them the 13-4 lead.
  • Weston Gray scored his sixth of the season, which was the Lakers' final goal of the contest at the 1:44 mark of the fourth quarter.
  • The goal was assisted by Liam Dollard for his fifth point of the season.
  • Clarkson added their final goal of the contest with 46 seconds remaining to give them the victory, 15-5.
  • Kevin O'Donnell had 18 saves in the contest.
  • The Lakers went 1-2 on the man-advantage.
  • Oswego converted 25-out-of-33 clears in the duration of the game.
