OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Field Hockey team could not keep the hawks of New Paltz at bay in their first SUNYAC loss of the 2021 season.

THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED

• New Paltz started fast as they scored two goals in the first six minutes of the contest.
• Junior Kaitlyn Mastracco recorded Oswego's first shot 9:17 into the contest.
• Ellie Kazel and Alyssa DeMichael had back-to-back scoring chances within eight seconds of each other, but to no avail.
• At the end of the first quarter the score stood at 2-0.
• The second quarter was predominately controlled by the Hawks offense, goalkeeper Erica Scheblein recorded six saves in the second quarter alone, finishing with 12 in the duration of the contest.
• In the third quarter, the Hawks added another giving them the three-goal lead.
• The Oswego defense stood strong, fighting off multiple penalty corners and shots on goal in the second half of the third quarter.
• After multiple defensive stops, the Lakers charged down the field and added a goal of their own.
• Nancy Pagliaroli scored her fifth of the season, Jenna Rogers assisted the lone Lakers goal.   
• Rogers led the Lakers in shots with four.
• Also recording shots for Oswego was Kaitlyn Ahle (1) and Megan Delaney (1).
