Field Hockey Falls in Non-Conference Matchup

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Field Hockey falls in their non-conference matchup against the Saints of St. Lawrence.

THE BASICS
  • Final Score:    St. Lawrence 2, Oswego 0
  • Location:        Oswego, N.Y.
  • Records:   St. Lawrence 7-4-0 (Liberty League 2-0), Oswego 6-5-0 (SUNYAC 1-1)
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The first minutes were end-to-end action as a pair of penalty corners for each team proved nothing, both defenses stood strong.
  • With one minute and twenty seconds left in the first quarter, Erica Scheblein was tested with a shot on goal for the first time of the contest, Scheblein knocked the shot away.
  • St. Lawrence came out swinging in the second quarter, putting two shots on goal in the first two minutes of the quarter.
  • The pressure continued as the Saints scored their first goal at the 4:56 mark of the second quarter.
  • With strong defensive play throughout the rest of the quarter from both teams, there was only one shot on goal recorded for either team.
  • The third quarter started fast for the Laker offense as Kacie Simzer and Alyssa DeMichael had back-to-back scoring chances, but were shut down.
  • Again, the rest of the third quarter (after DeMichael's chance) was back and forth in the mid-field, with no real scoring chances for either team.
  • With many fouls in the fourth quarter for both, nothing came of them, until St. Lawrence was granted a penalty corner at the 54:44 marker.
  • Shortly after this penalty corner, the Saints scored their second and final goal of the contest.
  • Also recording shots for the Lakers was Jenna Rogers and Kaitlyn Jordan.
  • Scheblein finished with a total of six saves.
