Lakers Halt Nazareth Comeback In OT

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Lakers survived a late third period comeback by the Nazareth Golden Flyers this evening. Ryan Dickinson secured the win 6-5 early in the overtime period. 


THE BASICS

  • Final Score: Oswego 6, Nazareth 5

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Alex DiCarlo got the scoring started early for the Lakers, giving them a 1-0 lead 1:08 into the first period. 
  • DiCarlo would then score again 4:45 into the first period to give the Lakers a 2-0 lead early. Those goals were his seventh and eighth of the season.
  • Both goals were assisted by Tyler Flack, his fourth and fifth of the season.
  • Nazareth would cut the Lakers' lead in half to 2-1 two minutes after DiCarlo's goal.
  • Connor Sleeth would help extend the Oswego advantage to 4-1 with two more first period goals, one of them which was on a power play. 
  • Flack would get his sixth assist of the season, and Ben Addison would get his fourth.
  • The second goal was assisted by Josh LeBlanc and Shane Bull.
  • Nazareth forward Ray Falso would cut the Lakers' lead in half again with a goal early in the second period making the score 4-2.
  • Rocco Andreacchi would score the fifth goal of the game for Oswego two minutes later on an assist by Sleeth, his seventh assist of the season.
  • The Golden Flyers scored three unanswered goals, two within the final minute of the third period, and one within the final three seconds of the period to send the game to overtime.
  • 1:15 into the five minute overtime, Ryan Dickinson scored the game-winning goal for the Lakers, the final score, 6-5, assisted by DiCarlo..
  • DiCarlo's leads Oswego with his eight goals on the season, Sleeth and Andreacchi each have three, and Dickinson's goal total is one.
  • With the win the Lakers improve their record to 8-3-1 heading into the holiday break.

The Lakers face Augsburg University in the Oswego State Men's Ice Hockey Classic at the Deborah F. Stanley Arena on Saturday, December 1.
