HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
- New Paltz broke open a 1-0 game in the top of the sixth inning on eight hits to score six runs.
- The Lakers got on the board in the bottom half when Fiona Higgins singled, pinch runner Jessica Dumont stole second and Zoe Mennig drove her home.
- Madelana Wrubel and Leah Czerwinski singled to try and start a seventh-inning rally, but New Paltz induced run scoring fielder's choices to trade outs for runs and hold on 9-3.
Game 2
- In the nightcap, sophomore Madison Hoeflich held the Hawks to a single run through five innings of work.
- Wrubel put the leadoff batter on base in the sixth inning and Mennig put runners on second and third with a double.
- That's when DuBois put Oswego on top with a two-RBI single and junior Aleah Yaizzo added another with a double to score DuBois.
- After Hoeflich reached on an error and scored Yaizzo, sophomore Tai Smith singled to bring in Hoeflich.
- Higgins (2-5) came on and struck out three in two innings of work to earn the win.
