OSWEGO, N.Y. – In a contest that saw both starting pitchers go the distance, the Oswego State baseball team was defeated by the Huskies of Southern Maine by a score of 4-0 and were eliminated from the NCAA Regional Championships with the loss. The Lakers conclude an excellent season with a 25-7 overall mark.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lakers had chances in the second, fourth and sixth innings with runners in scoring position, but could not capitalize.
- Southern Maine was sound defensively, recording one pickoff and catching a pair of Lakers attempting to steal to stymie scoring opportunities in the early innings.
- The big moment of the game came in the fifth when the Huskies paired singles around a sacrifice before catcher Cam Seymour blasted a three-run homerun to the right field corner.
- In the eighth, senior Brendon Frank singled through the right side to leadoff and following a groundout, senior Kyle Lauria drove a base hit up the middle.
- After a balk that moved runners to second and third, freshman Bryce Afthim struck out a pair of Lakers to preserve the lead.
- The Huskies used a single, groundout and RBI single to add an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth.
- Oswego starter Anthony Van Fossen (5-2) allowed nine hits in eight innings of work while striking out seven to keep Oswego within striking distance.
- Lauria reached base four times in the contest to lead Oswego.
- Afthim (10-1) worked around eight hits from the Lakers and four walks to pitch the shutout for the Huskies.
