Lakers Fall to Tigers of RIT

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's soccer team were defeated by the RIT Tigers this afternoon by a score of 2-0. The match was a defensive battle for the Lakers, with only four shots on goal throughout for both teams.   

THE BASICS
  • Final Score: RIT 2, Oswego 0
  • Location:  Rochester, N.Y.
  • Records: RIT 4-0-1, Oswego 1-2-2
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Rochester started the first half attacking the Lakers defensive zone. Lucas of the Tigers at 4:06 ripped a shot that was snagged by Goalkeeper Brian Terra to keep the game scoreless. 
  • Oswego defended three corners in a row, ranging from 11:05-12:28 of the first half.
  • Going into the second half the board remained scoreless.
  • RIT held the advantage in corner kicks in the first half 5-1.
  • With many chances from the Tigers, Oswego turned them away for the majority of the second half, keeping the game 0-0.
  • The Lakers held the Tigers to only three shots on goal throughout.
  • At the 81:37 mark the Tigers broke the tie which proved to be the game-winner.
  • Less than a minute later, the Tigers struck again giving them the 2-0 lead and ultimately the victory.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers return home to take on the Bombers of Ithaca at 7 p.m. at Laker Turf Stadium, Tuesday, September 14th.
