No. 25 Oswego State Makes It 11 Straight Wins

OSWEGO, N.Y. – In a battle of unbeaten State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) teams, the No. 25 Oswego State Lakers beat back a spirited second-half effort from Geneseo to pull away for an 88-63 victory.  Senior Julien Crittendon led the Lakers with 18 points in the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The game was 7-6 for the visitors four minutes into the contest when a 9-0 run fueled by six points from junior Jamal Achille put Oswego up with a lead they would not relinquish.
  • With 7:39 left in the opening half, a Jeremiah Sparks layup had the Lakers up 25-12.
  • The Knights were able to close the game back to 25-18 before a 13-4 run put the hosts up 38-22 at the break.
  • Oswego's defense held Geneseo to just 25% shooting and the Lakers had a 26-14 edge in rebounding at the half.
  • The second half turned into an offensive onslaught in the first 10 minutes as Geneseo went 5-for-5 from deep and Oswego answered each time by going 7-for-9.
  • Geneseo closed the game to eight points twice on threes before Brendan Mulson answered with his own three immediately afterward.
  • Once the Knights cooled off in the final 10 minutes of action, the Lakers pulled away by hitting four more shots from deep led by Crittendon and Devin Green as the lead grew to over twenty in the final six minutes.
  • Oswego finished with 13 three-pointers and shot 51.6% from the field in the contest.
  • Green finished with 16 points, Mulson had 11, and Ahkee Anderson chipped in 10 points and six assists.
  • Sparks, Christian Simmons and Achille all finished with eight points apiece.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers head down route 81 on Saturday for a 4 p.m. contest against Cortland.  Oswego won the first contest with the Red Dragons by a 69-44 score on November 30.
