Lakers Take Down Blue Devils on The Road

FREDONIA, N.Y.  –  The Oswego State Women's Soccer team faced off against the Fredonia Blue Devils this afternoon. The Devils were looking for their first win in over a month, the Lakers had other intentions.

THE BASICS

Final Score: Oswego State 2 (8-5-3, 2-3-2 SUNYAC), Fredonia 1 (2-8-4, 0-6-2 SUNYAC) 

Location: University Stadium Soccer Field, Fredonia, NY

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Oswego started with the kickoff and made a push downfield. Luigina Serrao was able to get a shot off, but it was saved by Fredonia's goalkeeper. 

  • Fredonia would drive the field and get a shot of their own, missing left of the goal. 

  • About 6 minutes in, Amber McDermott would receive her first yellow card.

  • This would give the Blue Devils an offensive spark, netting a goal just over 9 minutes into the contest.

  • There would be little action over the next 10 minutes of play before Katie Delgrosso would attempt a shot, missing right of the net.

  • Fredonia would follow that shot with three shots of their own, missing high on two of them, and Perri Anderson saving the other. 

  • Oswego would take the pass off of the goal kick, and score the tying goal of the game (28:23). Brianna Winkler would score the goal, getting the assist from Emma Rechtorovic.

  • Oswego would come out in the second half on a mission, scoring their second goal of the afternoon just over 2 minutes into play. Luigina Serrao would score the goal, with Rechtorovic recording her second assist. 

  • The pace of play would slow in the second half. There were no shots taken during this time.

  • Perri Anderson would finish with 2 saves on the day. 

WHAT'S NEXT

The Lakers will close out the regular season with their final conference matchup against New Paltz on Saturday, October 22nd. The Hawks have won 7 of their last 9 games, and are also the #2 ranked team in the conference.
