Volleyball Swept By Marywood In PA

SCRANTON, P.A.  –  The Oswego State Volleyball team traveled to Scranton to face off against the Marywood Pacers. The Pacers got the best of the Lakers, defeating them in 3 sets.

THE BASICS

Final Score: Oswego State 0 (17-10, 5-4 SUNYAC), Marywood 3 (13-16, 2-4) (23-25, 19-25, 17-25)

Location: Marywood University, Scranton, PA

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The first set was very competitive, as we saw 4 lead changes occur. 

  • The Lakers and Pacers would go back and forth scoring on each other.

  • The Pacers eventually pulled away at the end of the set, winning 25-23. 

  • Leading for the Lakers in kills for set 1 was Emma Fiorentine with 3, Georgia Ferry and Sydney Chiffriller each added a block. McKenna Corbin recorded 12 assists in the set.

  • The Pacers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second set. Oswego were able to rally and tie it at 4. 

  • Oswego remained in control halfway through the set, then the Pacers were able to find their groove. The Pacers built a 20-14 lead, forcing an Oswego timeout. 

  • The Pacers ended up taking the second set by a score of 25-19.

  • Fiorentine added 3 more kills in the second set, Emily Zeisler added a service ace, and McKenna Corbin added 5 more assists. Grace Taylor  also recorded 5 blocks in the second set.

  • The Pacers came out and dominated the third set, giving Oswego no chances to take the set. The Pacers would go on a 8-2 run to lead over Oswego 17-10. 

  • The Pacers would take the third set by a score of 25-17.

  • Emma Fiorentine led the Lakers with 9 kills on the day. McKenna Corbin recorded 29 assists throughout the match. 

WHAT'S NEXT

The women travel to Geneseo to take on the Knights in the first round of the SUNYAC Championships.
