PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The Oswego State Field Hockey team had another Empire 8 matchup this evening versus the St. John Fisher Cardinals. The Lakers fell to the Cardinals by a score of 2-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED

St. John Fisher was pushing the tempo offensively throughout the first quarter.

Oswego played very fundamentally sound defense in the first quarter.

Erica Scheblein faced five shots in the first quarter, with 4 landing on goal.

Scheblein had four saves in the first quarter.

The second quarter is when the Lakers would come to life.

About four minutes into the second quarter (19:02), Kacie Simzer would score the only goal of the night for the Lakers. Simzer was assisted by Nancy Pagliaroli.

Oswego would control the game for the rest of the half, testing the defense of St. John Fisher.

Oswego would attempt five more shots in the second quarter, with one missing just right of the net.

Despite Oswego having five shots in the first half and St. John Fisher having 11, Oswego was able to end the first half leading 1-0.

St. John Fisher came out in the second half on a mission, scoring the tying goal just over two minutes into the second half (32:11).

Shortly after, the Cardinals would receive a penalty corner that resulted in the go-ahead goal, and eventually the game-winning goal (35:21).

Oswego will travel to Cortland on Saturday, October 8th for a SUNYAC matchup against the Red Dragons. Oswego will be looking to get their first SUNYAC win of the season, while the Dragons will be looking to remain undefeated at home.
