CORTLAND, N.Y.  –  The Oswego State Field Hockey team was defeated by the Cortland Red Dragons this afternoon by a score of 5-0. 

THE BASICS

Final Score: Oswego State 0 (6-6, 0-3 SUNYAC), Cortland 5 (7-3, 2-1 SUNYAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The score was even through the first quarter, remaining 0-0.

• Cortland would have eight shots in the first, with four landing on goal, all being saved by Erica Scheblein.

• The Red Dragons would come out swinging in the second quarter of play. Scoring the first goal of the day just under two minutes into the second (16:51).

• Oswego would get their first shot off six minutes into the second coming from a penalty corner. The shot would come from Kaitlyn Mastracco, and would be blocked by the Red Dragons defense.

• The Red Dragons would get 12 shots off in the first half. Scheblein would finish with six saves in the first half.

• Cortland would not back down in the third quarter, scoring their third goal only 33 seconds into the third.

• The Dragons would score yet again, just over five minutes into the third (35:57).

• Oswego couldn't get any offense going in the third quarter, only getting two shots off against the Red Dragons. 

• Cortland would score yet again in the fourth, with just under eight minutes left to play (52:25).

• Oswego would fall to Cortland by a score of 5-0.

• Cortland would out shoot the Lakers by a margin of 25 to four. 

• Erica Scheblein would finish the game with 14 saves.

The Lakers are looking to bounce back against Nazareth as they head to Artificial Turf Field to face the Golden Flyers.
