Women's Soccer Shutout By Cardinals

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.  –  The Oswego State Women's soccer team traveled to Plattsburgh this afternoon to face the Cardinals. The Cardinals would defeat the Lakers by a score of 2-0.

THE BASICS

Final Score: Oswego State 0 (7-4-2, 2-2-1 SUNYAC), Plattsburgh 2 (7-4-1, 2-3-1 SUNYAC) 

Location: FIeld House Soccer/Lacrosse Complex, Plattsburgh, NY

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Lakers offense managed to get three shots off in the first half, the first one coming almost halfway through the first. This shot came at 23:15 by Amber McDermott, missing high. 

  • The Cardinals would score the first and only goal of the half at 17:12.

  • Attempting the other two shots for Oswego in the first half was Gabriella Martinez (36:35) and Jackie Marquardt (39:40)

  • The Cardinals would keep the pressure on the Lakers in the second half.

  • Plattsburgh would get nine shots off in the second half of play. 

  • The Cardinals would get their second goal of the game at 68:21, making the score 2-0.

  • Perri Anderson would finish the game with six saves.

  • The Cardinals out-shot the Lakers 17-6.

WHAT'S NEXT

The Lakers will come back to Laker Turf Stadium on October 12th to face off against the Buffalo State Bengals. The Bengals are looking to get their second conference win of the season while the Lakers are looking for their third conference win of the year.
